Petty Recap

Saturday night was a wild one at Petty International Raceway on many levels.

All indications pointed towards a top ten night for the Brycon Racing team in the Lucas Oil 150, the first of 12 rounds on the Maritime Pro Stock Tour. Nicholas and team made gains on the car throughout the three practice sessions and the car had speed in the heat race. After finishing third in the first 10-lap qualifier, it placed the No. 08 on the grid for the feature in ninth.

The Lucas Oil 150 had no shortage of excitement for the fans with 14 cautions in the event and nearly two and a half hours from green to checkered.

The restarts were intense from front to back. On a restart with eight laps left, Nicholas got into the upper groove into Turn One while running eighth. He chased the car up the track and it ended with the car climbing the wall, literally, on the back straight. The damage ended the night on Lap 142 and resulted in a 19th place finish in the season opener.

Repairs are underway for the next race on the Series this Saturday at Scotia Speedworld.

Brycon Racing and Nicholas Naugle are back on home soil as they prepare for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Season Opener, the Lucas Oil 150, at Petty International Raceway on Saturday, May 19th.

Petty International Raceway in River Glade, New Brunswick is a track Naugle has enjoyed success at through his stock car racing climb. It is a challenge for some drivers with corners that can sweep out and bite you and a worn out surface that keeps even the veterans on the wheel. Although his Late Model stats are limited at the track after competing in his first full time season on the Maritime Pro Stock Tour just last year, Naugle does own one top five finish in the River Glade International last August.

The team took full advantage of the Open Practice last Saturday, making gains on the car with every run to prepare for the Lucas Oil 150.

Grandstand gates open at 4pm on Saturday with racing slated for 6pm. Complete event information can be found at MaritimeProStockTour.com.
